We are a technical and technology based company. Our clients, however, are varied. While some might be very technical, the majority of our small business clients use our services to enable and grow their digital presence. They don’t need to understand technology, but they do need to be comfortable using it.
Why does this matter?
Because it’s all based on trust, which is a topic very close to my heart.
Unfortunately there have always been companies and individuals that prey on small businesses, knowing that many of them are not technical and that they can be duped. Domain names and trademarks aren’t topics that the average small business owner truly understand.
The most recent scam doing the rounds is one we’ve seen before, but this time it’s a European company that’s doing it. They have a track record, as our investigations revealed that they’ve been using similar dubious tactics to hit small businesses in both Belgium and Holland.
Personally I find this kind of tactic to be sickening. It undermines trust. They prey on businesses that are only beginning to get comfortable with technology and the knock on impact of this kind of scam is only negative.
If you get any of these ridiculous emails from DNS Ireland delete them – they’re a scam. Much like the insane fake renewal notices or other scams that have been cluttering our mailboxes for years!
